  • Will You Ever Substitute My Medication with Another?

This could occur because your insurance company prefers the generic drug prescribed to you to reduce your copay cost amount of the drug. If a medication substitution needs to be made, a member of our pharmacy staff will contact you prior to filling the medication to inform you of the substitution. At WellPharma, we are here to help you save money and make your experience easy and worry-free.
  • How Do I Dispose of Expired Medications I Am Not Taking Anymore?

Contact WellPharmaRx at 747-224-0091 for further instructions on disposing of controlled substances.
  • Why Is It Important Not to Share My Medications?
First off, it is against federal law to do so. There are several reasons why it is a bad idea to share your medications. The person you are sharing with may have an allergy to the medication or may interact with other medications the person is taking, including over-the-counter items. Medications also affect people in diverse ways, possibly leading to dangerous side effects. People may also require a different type of drug to treat their condition. For example, respiratory symptoms may be caused by a virus, which would not be treated the same way as a bacterial infection.
  • I Have Difficulty Swallowing Large Table Pills and Capsules. Can I Crush My Medications?
The list of medications that cannot be broken, crushed or chewed is quite extensive, and the answer is not always straightforward. One important consideration is how quickly the medication is supposed to be released in the body to have its desired effect. In general, if a tablet or capsule is designed to be released slowly throughout the day (i.e., extended-release, sustained-release, controlled-release, long-acting, etc.) it should not be broken, crushed, or chewed. If you are in doubt, and WellPharmaRx filled your prescriptions, ,please call 747-224-0091 to speak to our pharmacist. If you had your prescriptions filled through another pharmacy, please contact that pharmacy for assistance.
  • Where Should I Store My Medications?
Most medications should be stored in a cool, dry place. The medicine cabinet in your bathroom is not an ideal location. Be sure to keep your medications and supplies out of the reach of children and pets and away from other household or food items. Refrigerated medication should be kept on a clean shelf or in a clean drawer of the refrigerator. Some medications have specific storage requirements that should be listed on the bottle. Ask your pharmacist if you are not sure.
  • Should I Stop Taking Medications If They Don't Work Immediately After Taking Them?
Many medications take time to start working in your body, so you should not expect to see results immediately. Often it will take a few days, or even months in some cases, before a medication reaches its full effect. Ask your doctor or pharmacist how long you should expect it to take for your medication to start working. If you feel like your medication is still not working after that time has passed, call your doctor who prescribed the medication. Additionally, many medications should not be stopped abruptly and need to be tapered off slowly to avoid adverse effects. Always contact your doctor or pharmacist before stopping a medication.

Generic medications are equally effective and often more affordable than brand medications for patients.
  • What Is a Vaccine?
Vaccination is a simple, safe, and effective way of protecting you against harmful diseases, before you come into contact with them. It uses your body’s natural defenses to build resistance to specific infections and makes your immune system stronger. Vaccines train your immune system to create antibodies, just as it does when it’s exposed to a disease. However, because vaccines contain only killed or weakened forms of germs like viruses or bacteria, they do not cause the disease or put you at risk of its complications.
  • How Safe Are Vaccines?
In the United States, several safeguards are required by law to help ensure that the vaccines we receive are safe. Because vaccines are given to millions of healthy people including children to prevent serious diseases, they’re held to very high safety standards. Every authorized or approved vaccine goes through safety testing, including testing and evaluation of the vaccine before it’s licensed by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and recommended for use by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
  • Do Vaccines Have Side Effects?
Most people don’t have any serious side effects from vaccines. The most common side effects like soreness where the shot was given are usually mild and go away quickly on their own. They include pain, swelling, or redness where the shot was given, mild fever, chills, feeling tired, headache, muscle, and joint aches. Serious side effects from vaccines are extremely rare. For example, if 1 million doses of a vaccine are given, 1 to 2 people may have a severe allergic reaction. difficulty breathing, swelling of your face and throat, a fast heartbeat, a bad rash all over your body, dizziness, and weakness. If you experience a severe allergic reaction, call 9-1-1, or go to the nearest hospital.
  • Who Should Not Get Vaccinated?
Because of age, health conditions, or other factors, some people should not get certain vaccines or should wait before getting them. We recommend that you always talk to your family or health care provider about the vaccinations you are considering for you and your family.
  • Are There Risks Associated with Not Getting Vaccinated?
There are many reasons parents give for delaying a vaccination, from "My baby cries when she gets the shot," to "My child is too young to get so many vaccines." More important than all of these excuses are one simple fact: A child's immune system is more vulnerable without vaccinations. And if it weren't for vaccinations, many children could become seriously ill or even die from diseases such as measles, mumps and whooping cough. Diseases once thought to be eradicated are coming back because people are not being vaccinated as they once were. If you think tears from a needle are hard to watch, imagine the suffering your child will experience if he or she contracts a serious disease that could have been prevented. Don’t wait. Get vaccinated today! Call WellPharmaRx at 747-224-0091 to book an appointment for you and your entire family, even your elderly parents.
